Have you ever wondered why some people are broken by pain… while others are transformed by it?
Have you ever wondered…
why some people carry a painful experience for a lifetime…
while others emerge from the very same experience wiser, kinder, and stronger?
Have you ever noticed…
that healing is often mistaken for forgetting?
We tell ourselves,
“I’ll be healed when it doesn’t hurt anymore.”
But perhaps…
that isn’t healing at all.
A broken bone doesn’t become what it was before.
It heals.
It grows.
It carries the memory of the fracture…
but no longer lives under its control.
Perhaps we are not so different.
Healing is not pretending nothing happened.
Healing is not erasing the past.
Healing is not waiting for an apology that may never come.
Healing begins the moment we stop asking,
“Why did this happen to me?”
and begin asking,
“What is this experience cultivating within me?”
Because every experience leaves something behind.
Some experiences cultivate fear.
Others cultivate anger.
Some cultivate resentment.
Others cultivate compassion.
Patience.
Understanding.
Wisdom.
The experience does not make the final decision.
We do.
Perhaps healing is not becoming the person you were before.
Perhaps healing is becoming someone who can carry the past…
without allowing it to carry you.
Maybe the deepest wounds are not asking to be forgotten.
Maybe they are asking to be understood.
Everything we experience leaves something behind.
The real question is…
What is your healing cultivating within you?
